re: Fellowship Maneuvers

I've been playing this game since 2008 or so, and all this time, yes all this time, I didn't know for sure how to change my fellowship maneuver contribution. I was always just super careful to make the right one. But if you need to change it, I now know that you just press the space bar (jump) or move to change it.

I've been reading about the Draigoch (dragon) raid, and apparently it really helps the raid go better and faster if you use a series of certain fellowship maneuvers.

"Waiting for someone else to contribute their color first? You can start to click the color, but hold down the mouse button. Release the mouse button to when it's time to add your color."

I think this was mentioned in an earlier forum topic on FM's, but here it is anyway:
A flash-based program for practicing FM's can be found at http://navsplace.net/cj/

Very good posts. I didn't know about the mouse click one, that will come in handy.

(post moved to LOTRO 101 Guides)

There are a series of 12 fm's in the dragon raid, they are all combinations of red and yellow and they are all different. Generally speaking the leader will have each one programmed to pop up, or they will post the order in raid chat RYYYYR. The raid leader will give you a position number, so you watch the raid chat and look to see what color you are supposed to put in. For instance if you are 4th in that FM you would put a yellow in.

The fm's happen quite quickly, they try to fit at least 2 successful fm's and possibly even 3 into each segment of battle, so they are firing off pretty quickly. If you are a guard it is probably helpful to practice trying to trigger them as I have seen burgs and guards alternate to start them up to reduce cool downs.

The dragon group is split to 2 teams, if you are in the FM group and you think that you may lag, or have problems working out what color to put where, this is definitely a time to speak up. You can ask to be switched to the other team. Unless there is a huge problem with balancing the heals or something, most people will thank you for asking to be moved.

Having said all of that, with a good raid leader the dragon raid is a lot of fun, not something to be intimidated by Happy

"Look into the eyes of the dragon and despair!" Merlin, the movie Excalibur

Just kidding. I don't feel intimidated when I do my homework, and I did my homework for Draigoch. I carefully read a walkthrough on Top Ten Hammer and practiced FM's a little too.

Hopefully when alot of our 75's are online we can get a raid of it going, and fill up the remaining spots with PUG.

re: Don't get lazy, move those eyes and check your text chat box

I was just reminded by the lotro wiki that fellowship/raid leaders will often call out FM details in chat/voice. So it reminded me to remind all of you to always try to have your speakers at a level where you can hear voice chat, and to check the text chat often. When I started in lotro fellowshipping three or so years ago one of the first things I noticed was how important it is to not zone out --- to check the text chat often, check your morale often, etc. Not to get overconfident in general.
